Judy and Britney met up with me early one morning to take their engagement photos, and while I had so much fun working with them, it turned out to be quite a learning experience for me!
When Judy first contacted me, she let me know that her and her fiancé, Britney, are both deaf. With this session taking place in the midst of COVID-19, me wearing my mask meant that, lip-reading wasn’t going to be an option.
They had suggested using texting, but after considering the subtle nuances of posing, I figured it might be more difficult than it needed to be.
So I reached out on social media to see if I could find any American Sign Language interpreters to assist, and I was fortunate enough to find Ciara, a local interpreter. Thank you again for all your help, Ciara!
Being an inclusive brand means that EVERYONE is welcome, and I will always do what I can to be accessible to anyone. Ciara was super helpful in providing posing direction, and as an added bonus, I got to go back to my nostalgic, college city of Arlington for the shoot.
I’m so grateful Judy and Britney trusted me to take these photos for them! It was a beautiful day for connection and some heartfelt photos.
