Oh, what a day! An intimate at-home wedding with their dogs as their wedding party…my heart. My whole heart!! (If you’ve never seen a dog wearing a tux with your own eyes, you need to change that as soon as possible. These pictures will help, but you truly need to experience this magic in person for yourself.)

Ezequiel and Lorena chose to break quite a few traditions for their wedding day; anyone who knows me at all knows I’m always down for this. One of my favorite non-traditional aspects of the day? Getting ready together.

(Sidebar: Do you even know where that “tradition” of not seeing each other comes from? It’s pretty gross – and naturally rooted in patriarchy. Back when marriage was all about land ownership and “leveling up” in the world, a bride’s father would suggest she not be seen until the deal was sealed…on the chance the groom would change his mind and deem her “unworthy” of fulfilling the contract. Vomit. I’m so grateful most modern couples forgo this tradition.)

Back to the love and the joy: surrounded by their pups and donning some seriously stylish attire, these two said their vows, clinked champagne, and fed each other macaroons in lieu of wedding cake. 

I’ll trade convention for connection any day of the week, especially when it’s rooted in respect and love!
